Shall we take a peaceful walk in the gardens? (2025)

Created for a 2nd year design assessment. Using a 360° GoPro and ambisonic audio recorder, I set out to create a spatial video that explored how our auditory surroundings can impact our experience of a space, with a focus on the impact of noise pollution from cars on our ability to find peace in natural spaces. I filmed this video in the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens - a location whose beauty is unfortunately tainted by the roar of the many highways that surround it - and took recordings in a wide variety of places throughout the gardens. I then edited these clips into a video which highlighted the starkly different ways we can experience a space depending on the sounds we are surrounded by.
